Hi everyone!

Omg I can't believe one year has flown by just like that leh! And this year we'll all be splitting into different classes already. ): I'll miss you guys alot leh omg omg omg. I know we'll like still see each other and all, but somehow it's just different.

It will be just weird not seeing the usual people in class everyday and you all doing the usual things you guys do. Like.... Angelique everyday at assembly taking attendance for us. Yingzhen coming to school late. Angshuang always telling us about kpop and her boyfriends and husbands and 2pm. Felicia going around boxing people, calling everyone a boob. Divya and cherie fighting over me haha. Chubin shooting me in class. Kianleong and his U2 and his fetish for long legs LOL. Sihui and her squealing. Yufong being herself. Jolin's distinct laughter. Szewei and his taekwando and wedding dress dance! Shaleen and her crazyness over lady gaga. Aisyah and Divya watching their dunno-what shows. Benjamin always laughing at me for doing so badly in maths and science. Yipeng sleeping during Mrs Leong's class. Weiwen, mengchen, Bohan, Hongyu being so pro and helping us in Maths. ): ): ):

Rough Schedule

Here's the rough schedule for the chalet!

Day 1:
1400 - Everyone meet at Pasir Ris MRT (Near the ticketing place)
1530 - Games
1730 - Guys set up the BBQ pit and start the fire, etc.
1900 to 2200 - Eat then bathe then clear up
2200 - Watch movies/play games/tell ghost stories/blahblah

Day2:
0800 or 0730 (Depending on venue of Mass dance) - Wake up
0900 to 1100 - Mass Dance
1130 - Lunch
1230 - Games
1830 - Dinner
1930 - Bathe or do whatever we feel like doing
0100 - Wake up, get ready for night cycling
0130 till whatever time - Night cycling!

Day3:
Mainly packing up. (And we can play some ball games like vball, whooo!)
Do you all wanna have lunch together after that?

OK ANYWAY THE MOST IMPT THING HERE IN THIS CHUNK OF WORDS IS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS COMING ON DAY ONE PLEASE MEET AT PASIR RIS AT 2PM ON MONDAY!!!!!

Commitees for the Class Chalet

Hi people, here are the people in the different comms for the class chalet.

Overall planning + logistics: Angelique + Yu Fong
Games Committee: Gloria + Angshuang + Yingzhen
Food Committee (buy + cook food): Chubin + Szewei + Kianleong

The food committee will be working with 1B's Jeremy, Enoch and Vikhash to buy and cook the food for us:D Szewei will be in charge of bringing us to nice places to eat dinner if we're staying for 2 nights!

The games committee will be carrying out the awesome games they planned for us:D Everyone must play ah!

Me and Yu Fong will be in charge of collecting the money, receipts etc.

Yep that's about it. When the rest of the people who haven't replied me replied, I'll post the results of how long the class chalet will be. Hopefully it'll be from 9 to 11 Nov. Meanwhile, we're still looking for parents who are civil servants to help us book the chalet! So call me/sms me now if your parents can help us book!

And those who haven't replied me regarding the chalet yet, PLEASEPLEASE do it asap, thanks. By the way, you guys have to be in school normal time tmrw morning, 7.25am. Hello People!

I'm sorry I haven't gotten the class tee done, and all. Really really sorry! Okay I'm gonna get it done real soon okay. Found the supplier already so yeah:D Just need to find the teacher to get the design approved (!! can't find him D:) Class tee will cost approximately $16. Yep.

Alrightz.
So here are the details.
Basically, Tabitha (1B) and I are still working something out about the cost of the chalet cos we know cost is an important factor here. We're trying to keep the cost per person below $30.

Firstly, we'll probably be going to Aloha Changi Resort (Biggin Hill Terrace). The reason why we chose this place is because the chalets at Costa Sands are really expensive and Aloha Loyang cannot be booked for idk what reason. Biggin Hill Terrace is quite big, go click the link and see the description of the place.

Mrs Goh will tell me tmrw if she can help us book the chalet, cos apparently civil servants can get a 50% discount or more off the rooms. Yep. But just in case Mrs Goh can't help us book, can those of you who's parents are civil servants try to ask them whether they can book for us? Just in case(: Sms me if your parents are willing to help us book okay, thanks! :D

We're trying to make it from the 9 to 11 of November because that's the time when most people are free. Do you guys want a one or two nights chalet? Sms me too, and tell me okay. And tell me the days between 9 to 11 Nov when you guys are free also. I'll also need to know if you'll be able to stay overnight.

Please do take note that everyone has to pay the same price whether or not you guys are staying over or coming for the chalet so that it'll be easier for everyone.

As for the food, we'll probably be splitting up the food with 1B, so we need a food comm who will then go with the 1B food comm to buy the stuff needed for the bbq. We'll need around 3 people, so we've decided to get Si Hui, Szewei and Kianleong. Are you three okay with it? Get back to me okay. Food comm, do let me know your budget for the food also so that we can get everyone to pay. I'll need the receipts, thanks.

Just to clarify, we won't be having games and all with 1B, but during the bbq you can mingle around:D We'll be having our own class games headed by the games comm consisting of Gloria, Angshuang and Yingzhen:D

So here's a quick recap of what you guys have to do:

12 APRIL
last day for completion of the StrengthQuest. print out two copies of your results, and hand in one set to me on monday. you will have to keep the other set and bring it for a debrief on 29 April during contact time.
for those who cannot log in, please sms me ASAP so i can try to get the access codes for you. for more information, visit the school portal and download the powerpoint slides for the steps on how to do the StrengthQuest.

15 APRIL
Please bring your OBS Registration forms with the sections 1, 2, 3 and 6 completed. Also, bring your health booklets on that day as there will be a medical check-up between 3.3-4.30pm at the Leadership Centre. For those who are unable to make it, please visit a general practitioner (doctor) outside the college to get Section 5 of your form filled up and hand it in BEFORE 15 April. Please go in small groups to avoid congestion and to reduce waiting time. Give me the names of the people you will be going with, and the earliest groups to give me the names would be given the earliest timeslots. Fair and Square:D However if you are needed at your PDP or Open House Rehearsal, you can go for the medical checkup anytime between 3.30 and 6.30pm.

tmrw's my last official day as vice cg rep. haha.
having mixed feelings about it, but i wanna thank all of you here:D
thank you for the invaluable advices some of you guys have given me, and the support too:D

Rationale

As we enjoy the benefits and privilege of being a Singaporean such as living in a country with a high standard of living, good education and infrastructure, to name just a few, let’s not forget our responsibility to the country. To protect, defend and serve the country so that we can continue to enjoy what we have is the fundamental responsibility of a Singapore citizen.

Total Defence Day is instituted so that we are reminded not to take the privileges and benefits for granted, and the various threats and opportunities that Singapore faces and how and where each citizen needs to and can play a part to keep SINGAPORE going.

TA would like to commemorate this day and our duties as citizens to the country by a visit to Singapore Discovery Centre where through 3 learning stations we can be reminded of what is active citizenry.

Operation instructions:

Please inform your parents of your trip to SDC and when you will be expected back. We should return to College by 5.45 or 6pm if everything goes according to plan.
Before the trip, on Monday 9^th Feb, class rep please collect $4/- from each student and give the payment to give to the GO.
Students are dismissed at 12.30pm to have lunch and they will meet at the Arts Hub at 1.30pm to board the 4 buses waiting. TA1 to occupy 2 buses and TA2, the other 2 buses.
Assemble in your class and class reps are to take attendance and give the attendance sheet to their Civics Tutors.
At all times on an outing, students must be aware that you are moving in a large group and they represent the college. Your behaviour in the public must be considerate, circumspect, courteous and co-operative at all time. This applies to volume of speech, interaction amongst themselves, movement from point to point, giving full attention to the talks, explanation and activity at the point of time. There should be awareness that this is a fieldtrip for learning as opposed to a leisure trip and it is a college group and not an individual’s outing. Take note and record what you see and learn, notebook, photo-taking is useful for the reflection blog later.
At the end of the trip, board the bus quietly and quickly, if you wish to be dropped off at some point of the return trip, always seek permission politely from your teacher and keep them informed of your every move. Remember that your teacher is your guardian on the trip.

Follow-up Activity:

As a follow-up on the trip, you are to make a post and put up a photo-journal with at least 1 post about your understanding on citizenship and total defence by 15^th February on the web blogsite:http://temasekacademytotaldefenceday09.blogspot.com/

You are to include your name and your class under your post and to observe all the protocol of journaling on the web.
